Press ReleaseAug. 15, 1998 Immediate Release Distribution: Statewide
Statewide Water Efficiency Workshop OfferedRALEIGH – A workshop about water use efficiency is scheduled for August 28 at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. "Making Dollars and Sense Through Water Use Efficiency," will address the development of municipal water efficiency programs for commercial and industrial water users. The workshop also will show businesses some water efficiency techniques to reduce water bills, lower sewer charges, and save energy. The workshop will be presented by the Regional Water Authority and is cosponsored by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. While public water supply capacity and shortages have been receiving attention throughout North Carolina, municipal water conservation/efficiency programs have been a low priority - only a handful of programs exist statewide. Water efficiency programs offer a cost-effective approach to save money and extend the use of current and future water resources. For more information about the workshop, call Jennifer Ball, regional water authority, at (828) 259-5958. For more information, contact Terry Albrecht at the North Carolina Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance,
1639 MAIL SERVICE CENTER, Raleigh NC 27626. He can be reached by telephone at 828-232-5080.
