A number of North Carolina’s 26 Electric Cooperatives provide their members with CFL recycling opportunities.

The following cooperatives informed DEAO, previously DPPEA, that they have a CFL recycling bin in their offices for their members to use. Clicking on the cooperative name will lead you to their website:

Other recycling opportunities provided by electric cooperatives:

Blue Ridge EMC partners with Watauga County to fund the county’s CFL recycling efforts.

Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative partners with Dare County Solid Waste who provides a collection point for all fluorescent lamps at the Buxton recycling center.

Roanoke Electric Cooperative provides a recycling bucket at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church (per its request) for its members to conveniently dispose of CFLs. Roanoke also works closely with ACE Hardware in Ahoskie, N.C. were a recycling bucket is located. This service is free to anyone in the community.
